Tell Your Story We Want to Hear It

Friday, 29. January 2010 13:05

Tell us Your StoryOver the years that I have been consulting with people and doing network marketing and now internet marketing, (in essence simply connecting with people), there has been a constant that has never changed…people always want to hear my story.

Every time I tell my story…people respond in a way that doesn’t happen at any other time. Every time I have consulted with someone and told my story people seem to click in with me and connect in a special way. They follow through with a lot more consistency after I tell them my story.

Whenever I make a new post on one of my blogs and it contains a personal story, I inevitably get more comments from that type of post than almost any other.

The Realm of Love…the Only Place of Reality and Truth!

Wednesday, 27. January 2010 19:12

The Love of GodI have written this post a number of times since even before the beginning of this New Year…2010. I may share the other things I have spent a number of hours writing at some point…but none of them came out just exactly how I wanted them to. In fact…although they have all been incredibly important things, they just didn’t seem to fit in with what it is I am wanting to share. Quite honestly…this will be one of the most important things I have ever posted on this or any of my blogs.

Did You Sleep Enough Last Night?

Tuesday, 26. January 2010 4:48

Not Enough Sleep? As I am up once again with more to do than I have time to do it…I started thinking about sleep…not only because I am wanting to go to bed and SLEEP but because it is a topic that has been fascinating to me ever since I woke up ill one morning back in December of 1985.

I Am Beyond Grateful

Monday, 25. January 2010 1:49

Please go check out my friend Patrick McIntosh. He did a new video a couple of nights ago and he inspired me. I also read a facebook note that another friend wrote and she inspired me as well. Her name is Cindy Newkirk and she writes a great deal about her experiences and how they shape her relationship with God. It is good stuff…you should check her out.

Anyhow…both of these fine people were sharing from their very souls about what is happening in our world right now. They were both inspired to share the beauty and the good that can be found amidst trouble and chaos.

I started thinking about my own life and the many, many things happening seemingly all at the same time. Sometimes it seems things are spinning so fast it is hard to keep up with it all. I happen to agree with my friends…there are so many opportunities to take hold of and be thankful for and to use to help shape our lives in the current context of life it is amazing.

The 8 Causes of Disease Part 1

Saturday, 23. January 2010 4:22

I thought I would share a few thoughts on Dr. Pedersen’s 8 Causes of Disease. Today I will cover the first one and comment.

Dr. Pedersen is a scientist with a degree in toxicology who worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a number of years before going into the field of sports medicine. He has formulated many natural products, testified before congress regarding infectious diseases and was directed by the office of the Vice President of the United States to come up with a step by step protocol for the treatment of TB.

He was also a major contributor to the research that led to finding a viable treatment for Malaria through the use of a highly specialized product called Silver Shield. In fact, the company who makes this product, Nature’s Sunshine Products, was donating a bottle of Silver Shield liquid for every bottle purchased for quite awhile. They found that 2 bottles of the Silver Shield liquid actually helped people completely overcome Malaria. They may still do this…I would not be surprised if they were still doing this even in this tough economy. Nature’s Sunshine Products has always been an outstanding company.

I have spoken with Dr. Pedersen on a number of occasions and heard him speak as well. I don’t necessarily agree with everything that he teaches but I think his 8 causes of disease deserve a good look.

So here goes…the first cause from his list:

1. Deficiencies

If you read my post a few days ago you can see my stance on the basic principles of why bodies start to break down into a state of “dis-ease.” I won’t rehash that long post but I will simply state that I believe maintaining a state of health comes down to keeping the internal environment of the body balanced and healthy. Read the post if you want any more explanation than that as I do not desire to take up any more space here to explain what it means.

My purpose for sharing Dr. Pedersen’s 8 causes of disease is to give a perspective as to why the internal environment breaks down and becomes imbalanced. As I said earlier…I don’t entirely agree with him on everything but please take a look at these causes and consider how they affect you and your life.

It is no wonder that deficiencies are at the top of the list with the eating habits of the normal person. Here are some interesting statistics that relate to this topic:

The increase in money spent on fast food since 1970 has gone up by about 22 times. Americans are now spending about 135 billion dollars/year on foods known to be deplete in all but the most basic nutrients. And, most fast food is filled with so many things that you do not want to put in your body it is almost frightening to think what actually takes place in the body when you eat it.

We Americans drink on average nearly 2 sodas per day, or almost 700 per year. This alone is about 7,000 teaspoons per year of sugar.  Over half of Americans drink multiple cups of coffee every day…many of those people loading it up with sweeteners of one sort or another.

So…how does this relate to deficiencies?

Unfortunately…people fill themselves up with these types of foods and drinks and completely neglect the food and drink that would give them the nutrients they need to help them on the road to being healthy and balanced.

We will talk about the negative aspects in these foods etc. at a later time…but we must be clear that every food and every drink has a nutritional makeup that either provides adequate nutrition to the body or inadequate nutrition to the body. Unfortunately…even the foods that we may consider that give adequate nutrition to the body typically fall way short.

The truth of the matter is that our bodies are very complex organisms that operate on a level that requires…nutrition (of course), energy (both raw forms of energy and created energy), and more chemical reactions than we can fathom (unless of course you work for the federal government and you throw around dollars in the billions and trillions like it was child’s play).

There are plenty of things that take place within the human body that are a mystery to me but I do want to make it clear that if you do not provide the raw materials in the form of enzymes, co-enzymes (vitamins), minerals, amino acids and other forms of phytonutrients…then it is impossible for the body to keep up with the billions of chemical reactions needed to keep it well balanced and healthy.

It is because of these things that scientists, doctors, natural health practitioners and the like have focused on nutritional deficiencies so much. This is why the number 92% has been offered up for years. 92% of the foods we typically eat are lacking in basic nutrients that can keep you functioning at a minimal level. It is a serious issue. It takes these basic nutrients to run the body.

Let me be clear…the chances are very good you do not get enough basic nutrition in your diet. There are massive books written on this subject and we’ll cover more about nutrients at other times but if you simply focused on this one thing would you become healthy? If you were, by some miracle, able to find the best organically grown perfectly balanced food and consumed only that…would you be healthy?

The answer is…probably not. You could be…but only if other things were in place as well.

If we are simply talking about nutrients…even in the world of raw foods there are very few foods that carry a full compliment of nutrition any more. For generations now the foods we grow have become less energetically viable than they used to be. What I mean by this is that the seeds to start these foods and the soil itself (not the nutritional makeup of the soil) lack the energy to create high powered foods in general. (We do not have time to delve into this concept right now…but every viable and living thing has the ability to draw energy into itself to one degree or another…some of this is being lost). I contend that even foods grown under the best conditions cannot produce a full compliment of nutrients as their predecessors did. But this isn’t the whole story. There are other deficiencies that are just as critical if not more so. Dr. Pedersen talks about deficiencies to mean nutritional deficiencies…but I think we need to take it a step or two further to be able to see a broader perspective of what is happening in our society and culture.

It takes more than nutrition to create a balanced and healthy body. It is clear to most people if they consider it long enough that every thought that you have, every word that you utter, every sound that you hear, every thing that you see, and every environment that you are in affects you in one way or another.

What most people never consider, however, is that the combination of every one of those things mentioned in the previous paragraph in any given situation at any given moment in time creates a response within our minds, bodies and emotions. Chemical reactions are triggered by stimuli that we would never consider under normal circumstances.

For instance…you wake up in the morning to the smell of your favorite foods and your spouse is smiling at you in glee as if you are the delight of his/her soul as you walk into the room…what do you think happens inside the body?

The “energy” of the situation triggers multiple reactions within the body. “Good health” comes in a moment like this. It is well documented that when the sick are prayed for…they are more likely to get well. I don’t care what you believe about God but the positive energy created through people praying for someone helps to promote health within the body of the one being prayed for. Is it enough? Sometimes…but even if it is not…it always helps!

Most people who spend time outdoors around life…especially lots and lots of wild trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants tend to be healthier. It doesn’t even matter if they consume these things or not. Just being around life gives you energy and better health.

You can talk about the law of attraction and so forth but I believe there are much more basic things happening than that. That is…in general…life begets life. Those things that bring life to a human body and soul tend to encourage life to grow.

Whether they be living nutrients or energies such as love and laughter, the feeling of beauty in the mountains or the sense of awe standing in front of waves pounding on a beach or whatever…the life in these things creates life within our bodies.

Did you know that a negative thought sets off a cascade of predominantly negative reactions within the body bringing stress and imbalance. Imagine what a whole string of negative thoughts and emotions can do day in and day out.

The Bible says that laughter brings health to the body (check out my video on what not to do in network marketing to have a laugh or two). Why? Because just as a negative thought brings a form of death…a positive thought brings life.

Why do I bring all of these things up?

The deficiencies we are experiencing that bring so many people ill health include nutritional deficiencies for sure…but they also include deficiencies in love, laughter, hope, faith, positive external energies from the environment that we live in, positive thoughts, a general positive outlook on life and a severe deficiency of the appreciation of life itself.

We are also deficient in pure clean water, in sleep, in activity, in hard work with your hands and on and on it goes. There are more…but I believe that is enough to get my point across.

You can have a perfect nutritionally balanced diet and still be completely unhealthy in your physical body. I have been talking about finding what it means to live a balanced life for many years now. It is very difficult in our day and age but as things become more stressed and pressured it becomes even more difficult to stay healthy and thus more important to realize where your personal deficiencies lie and then learn how to correct them.

I have simply given you some ideas as to where people are deficient in general. It is very important to realize where your deficiencies lie or else there is no way to correct them. The results…sickness, ill-health and disease…not only in our bodies but our souls as well.

If you have appreciated this post please pass it on…tweet it, share it, digg it…whatever makes you happy. Thank you very much for being a part of the conversation as well.

Build Your Rock Walls

Thursday, 21. January 2010 14:23

I was reading a book tonight to my youngest son.  To be truthful it was a bit dark to actually read with my contacts in (I have a  tough time reading with my contacts in anyhow…something about getting old…I don’t know! I guess it is time to start working on my eyes. I’ll have to do a future post on that subject).

Anyhow, this story was about a little lamb named Drudge who runs off and gets lost in a snow storm. It is a neat story set in Ireland or Scotland. Forgive me for not knowing because it was too dark for me to read the small words. What I do know is that the pictures were absolutely beautifully done and it was a beautiful country side.

Rock Wall from Sally Ross Photography

Here is my point however in bringing this up. The fields where these sheep were kept were fenced off by rock walls. These are not rock walls built by big machinery like we see alongside our roadways from time to time. No…these rock walls were built by hand from rocks gathered in the fields.

These rocks were searched out and gathered on foot, carried by hand and stacked with good old fashioned sweat and effort. The beautiful rock walls in the pictures of the book (and like the photo here by Sally Ross) were built over the course of a great deal of time and effort.

Most people understand that nearly every good thing in life follows this model. Time, effort, perseverance and hard, hard work brings most things about. I spend a great deal of my time attending to my internet marketing business. I spend long hours and put in a great deal of hard work every single day to become successful. It is working.

I track the number of visitors to this particular blog (I have been switching over from my old blog)…which is practically brand new. The number of visitors I am getting is growing by a great degree every week. I can see that the number of  visitors to this blog has increased exponentially as I continue to daily put in the hard work to get information in front of people.

My hope is to inspire people to become as much as they possibly can be. I have a great deal of personal experiences to share and it takes a great deal of work, patience and perseverance to continue to write nearly everyday giving people hope and a slightly different perspective on life .

The fact is that you can absolutely be successful in the things that you are passionate about and give you great excitement if you treat it like the folks that built those rock walls. They ended up with something beautiful and super functional because of an extreme amount of hard work and perseverance.

There will be tons of friends and family members and the masses out there who will tell you that you can’t do it. “The wall has to be too high and too long…you’ll never finish.” Or…”there are not enough rocks available.” Or…”you should be tending to the garden or the house or the yard or the whatever and not spending countless hours building that stupid wall.”

I am here to say…”keep going it is worth it…when you are finished you will not only have a beautiful wall but you will be able to help feed your family and grow your business because you built it. And, the feeling of accomplishment will be huge. In fact that may very well propel you more towards success than anything else. Keep it up and keep going and keep working. It is hard, it is time-consuming, it is sometimes brutal…but never give up. You will love yourself and your skeptical family and friends will love you in the end as well.”

The end result will be beautiful. I am here to help you if you need it but don’t ever give up building your walls!

Do You Know How to Dance?

Wednesday, 20. January 2010 3:49

One thing I have learned especially over these past few years is if you want to dance beautifully, you dance with a dancer. I will tell you a story of a friend of mine to help you see what I am talking about in a moment.

This principle applies in many areas of life. I use it in my relationship with God. I don’t need to see the whole picture of what is coming around the corner or have the full revelation (or any for that matter) of what is happening in my circumstances to be able to relax into what He is doing and let Him (who knows all and sees all and has history in His hands) walk me through it. It takes trusting but I simply am learning to live in this moment to its fullest extent and let God take me through from one moment to the next. He is an expert “dancer” and I can dance with Him if I simply allow the moment to moment dance to happen with God taking me in His arms and “whisking” me around the dance floor.

See if you can picture this with the following story…

My friend and his wife were taking dance lessons to learn how to improve their steps for their daughter’s wedding. They were getting the steps fine…the mechanics of the dance…but what they were doing actually looked nothing like a dance.

They had the right steps, even the right timing…but they were not dancing, flowing around the floor and creating beauty together. The instructor stopped the class and asked to dance with my friend’s wife.

She had a choice to make…step out and take a risk or step back and not look foolish. Those were the choices and she was tempted to choose the latter…

The Basics of Natural Home Health Care

Tuesday, 19. January 2010 4:16

I was inspired to start writing about health today. Kathy Jodrey did a post on Alternative Treatments for Cancer. She did a good job and it reminded me of what a great need there is for good information.

I have held off on writing too much about health issues because I don’t want to be known simply as the “natural health guru” because there are so many other things that are just as important to me…or actually more so.

My family and other relationships are at the very top of my list as well as learning how to grow in maturity, hope, faith and love in every area of life…including my business life. I am passionate about sharing these things and I greatly desire to share my experiences in life as they are quite unique relative to most of the world…especially most of the western world.

We have a unique family in this world and a large part of that is because we truly do everything out of our home. We home-birth, home-school, have home-businesses, do healthcare out of our home, minister to our friends and neighbors out of our home and a whole host of other things as well.

My hope is to share many of these things…because we do a great deal of things very well and it shows in our children especially.

But today…as I shared from the beginning, I want to talk for a moment about some basics regarding home health care and then say a word or two about Cancer in particular in honor of Kathy’s post.

As many of you know…we have seven children. Out of seven children we have had seven home-births. Out of a cumulative 59 years of our children’s lives they have never seen a doctor for any health issues.

I, Pencil…Leonard Read’s Famous Economics Essay

Sunday, 17. January 2010 2:53

Leonard E. Read (1898-1983) founded FEE  (Foundation for Economic Education) in 1946 and served as its president until his death.
“I, Pencil,” his most famous essay, was first published in the December 1958 issue of
The Freeman.

This is his essay! It is not mine…but I believe it to be very important. I did not get permission to post this here so I hope they will forgive me for doing so. The book is available for free in pdf format here: http://fee.org/library/books/i-pencil-2/

If you like this essay please visit the FEE website and look around. I say this not because I have spent a huge amount of time there…but I feel like I need to encourage you to do so because it would normally be the place where you would find this essay. I simply want to be a link to them since I am using this essay. You can also purchase the physical booklet at this website among other resources

Here is is:

I, Pencil

I am a lead pencil—the ordinary wooden pencil familiar to all boys and girls and adults who can read and write.*

*       My official name is “Mongol 482.” My many ingredients are assembled, fabricated, and finished by Eberhard Faber Pencil Company.

Writing is both my vocation and my avocation; that’s all I do.

You may wonder why I should write a genealogy. Well, to begin with, my story is interesting. And, next, I am a mystery— more so than a tree or a sunset or even a flash of lightning. But, sadly, I am taken for granted by those who use me, as if I were a mere incident and without background. This supercilious attitude relegates me to the level of the commonplace. This is a species of the grievous error in which mankind cannot too long persist without peril. For, the wise G. K. Chesterton observed, “We are perishing for want of wonder, not for want of wonders.”

Are You Ready for Success Part 3

Friday, 15. January 2010 23:53

When understanding your passions is not enough…

There is another component to this that we need to touch upon. That is, you are a part of a community of people. Part of the reason for engaging in the activity that you are passionate about is to bring value to your community. Most of the time this is the greatest “why” of pursuing those things you discover you are truly passionate about.

As I mentioned earlier…part of what plays a role in my determining what I do and don’t do is my great love and passion for my children. My “why” of deciding to monetize the two areas I spoke about above is because they are two areas that I can make a great deal of money in and I get to be home as well. My “why” helps to dictate the “what.” I could choose to simply fly fish and take people on trips and so forth but that would take me away from my family way more than I want to be away.

So, I choose to engage in and monetize those things that fit in with what are actually the most important things to me. The “why” dictates which passions need to be focused in on more than the other things. I could monetize any of it…however, I choose to engage primarily in those things that fit in with my biggest “why.”
