Building Memories…If You Don’t Your Business will Die!
My eldest daughter and I travelled down past Matthew Neer’s territory into the heart of Central California tonight. Fortunately there were only small patches of fog and none of that thick car crashing cannot see sort of fog that is so prevalent in the heart of the central valley of California. We drove nearly four hours for a soccer tournament this weekend in the small town of Lemoore, CA. Are we a bit insane? Perhaps…but there is more than just soccer happening here…
As we were driving down we listened to a few podcasts about “living loved” and talked and listened to some music. It is just the two of us this weekend…which doesn’t happen all too often. I am truly grateful to have the chance to do this sort of thing every once in awhile with my kids.
I travel across the Sierra Mountains quite often to visit some properties we own in Nevada and sometimes I am able to take one or two of my children along with me. It was about a year ago now that this same daughter and I were hanging out in the snow up at South Lake Tahoe on one of those trips.
She just reminded me of one night in the jacuzzi at the Marriott Grand Residence about a year ago now. It was snowing. She and I had jumped in with a few young men who had met for a reunion…they had some great stories. I can still feel the cold air on my face while sitting as cozy as can be in that warm, nearly hot, water. It hardly gets any better than taking a jacuzzi on a cold, snowy night with one of your children that you love deeply. It was fun listening to some of these young men talk about their memories and it was fun building our own at the same time. It is a great memory!
Now…we are here to create more great memories as well as we hang out…as she plays soccer in her tournament and we have a few laughs, a few discussions and all around just enjoy ourselves.
We watched an episode of Hogan’s Heroes before going to bed…quite funny…another memory!
Creating memories is one of those vital areas in relationship building. I wonder how many people who know this actually put it into practice. Are you creating memories with your children or your spouse? I certainly hope so! How about with your business partners, your prospects, your customers?
If you are not…how are they going to remember you? Have you ever considered what it means to build memories with your business relationships? At every level it is imperative to leave an impression…enough of an impression that you are building memories in people’s hearts and minds.
Are you connecting with your people at an emotional level so that it actually creates an imprint in their hearts and minds of who you are. This actually takes an emotional connection of some sort.
I write an awful lot about my relationship with my children and the activities we do together. Why do I do this? One…I am passionate about the subject matter and two…people truly connect with it. People remember the stories. They feel some of the emotions and through this we create memories together.
You can also do this by giving away great business tips and tricks that help people improve their knowledge, insight and understanding to be better at doing their business and thus improve their lives…like this post. After all…why do we do Internet Marketing? There are various reasons but at the core…most people want a better quality of life. They want to do something they are passionate about, they want more freedom, more time, more money…but mostly just an overall better experience in life to be able to share great joy, happiness and love with those they care about.
Those of us who do Internet Marketing and teach others as well…enable people these great joys and benefits of this life by helping them get out of the way of themselves and learn to soar high above the normal chaos of life and actually learn how to love the life they lead.
However…if you are new at marketing on the Internet or simply contemplating a life where you commute 30 seconds to a world where connecting with people means everything to your livelihood…then please listen…YOU MUST CREATE MEMORIES WITH PEOPLE in order to be successful. For…when you are creating memories with people you are building relationships. And building relationships means everything in this business.
When someone interacts with you on an emotional level, they remember that. If you can create that connection more than once…you start to build a relationship with someone that actually has some substance behind it.
You are not going to get emotionally close with everyone of your relationships…but you need to understand that in order for you to help people seeking the same kind of life you live (that is why you are doing this…correct…to help people find freedom for themselves?) they must have an emotional response to you and what you have to share.
This can come in the form of a story that people connect with, or a video that makes people laugh (check out Patrick Mcintosh), or cry or contemplate their lives, or a well thought out article that helps motivate someone to action. Whatever the case…learn how to connect with people on an emotional level and build memories with them. They will appreciate you forever as you help them beyond themselves into a world of freedom for themselves and their loved ones.
I would love to hear from you how you create memories with the people you interact with and are building relationships with…

Hi guys,
I know this might be a bit off topic but seeing that a bunch of you own websites, where would the best place be to host. Someone recommended I use Blue Host for $6.95 a month which seems like a great deal. Anyone here on lifewithbrucebackman.com using them?
