I Am Beyond Grateful
Please go check out my friend Patrick McIntosh. He did a new video a couple of nights ago and he inspired me. I also read a facebook note that another friend wrote and she inspired me as well. Her name is Cindy Newkirk and she writes a great deal about her experiences and how they shape her relationship with God. It is good stuff…you should check her out.
Anyhow…both of these fine people were sharing from their very souls about what is happening in our world right now. They were both inspired to share the beauty and the good that can be found amidst trouble and chaos.
I started thinking about my own life and the many, many things happening seemingly all at the same time. Sometimes it seems things are spinning so fast it is hard to keep up with it all. I happen to agree with my friends…there are so many opportunities to take hold of and be thankful for and to use to help shape our lives in the current context of life it is amazing.
However…it would also be very easy to get caught up in the downward spiral that so many people seem to be in as well. You need to make a choice as to what you see…how you perceive things to be.
It was one of my son’s birthday yesterday and we went to play some soccer together (myself and my 7 children) and then we went to some friends of ours who live on Folsom lake for a bit of fun.
It was such fun to watch my kids enjoy themselves. They get along amazingly well. In fact, I can hardly think of more than a handful of times over the past decade when any of them were unhappy with any of their siblings.
They truly love life and I just need to stop and wonder at that every once in a while. Even though our lives move a million miles a second, my children are truly engaged in and completely enjoy their lives.
I am beyond grateful for that. In fact I don’t even have the words for it. I wish I could convey what a blessed man I truly am with my family. Some of you may know my family and know what I mean…but those of you who don’t…I would just like to steer you to a couple of other blog posts on another blog of mine.
Life As a Father of Seven Children…
I am Amazed With My Eldest Son
After Seven Children We Surely Have Learned Something
I just feel like I need to brag on them a bit.
Also…I wrote this Thanksgiving poem a day or two after Thanksgiving this year and I just wanted to share that as well. I hope you enjoy it…
My Thankful Heart…
as i ponder on this thankful day
i wonder if all may come what may
to know the one true God is ever so
the one thing best…of this i know
tis turkey, sauce, potatoes mashed
gravy, pie and more is cached
within my gut expanded more than not
and i care?…not a second thought
no…family…children and my spouse
life and joy…our not so big house
some pets & cars…gas in the tank
these are those for which i thank
almighty God…His loving gift
to save me from the chasms rift
his Son and He in agreement do
rescue me and rescue you
through broken heart…amazing love
my life becomes…hand in a glove
where He does move and work His life
in and through our inbuilt strife
and beauty He does leave in me
not unlike a beauteous blooming tree
i’m grateful for these many things you see
for…He draws me daily into eternity
to dwell and live and laugh and shine
within the triune God divine
I rest and become one with Him
I laugh & sing with cherubim
for this you see is where I’m free
it is where I’m meant to be
embraced by Love in Father’s care
what joy to live forever there
I would love to hear about any of the things you are thankful for…please comment below. Blessings to you all!
