Success…Are You Ready for It? Part 2
If you would like to read part one first…
How do you determine who you are?
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to understand what makes you smile…or what gets your heart pumping just a bit when you are thinking about it.
In order to do this…you really need to pay attention to every moment. We get stuck worrying about the future or thinking about the past that we miss what is happening right now. When we miss the present moment…we miss shaping our future. We will never get anywhere that we want to be living in the future. It is only in the present that we must live…for it is the present moments that add up to create our future.
When you can engage in the moment in which you live…you can then begin to track what excites you at any given moment. A word of caution here: Not everything that excites you is necessarily good for you or your family and community.
For instance…if you are married and are attracted to someone other than your spouse, while this may excite you, if you act that out you will most likely bring more destruction into your life than good.
The reason I bring this up is that although you need to figure out what truly excites you, you also need to be careful as to where the core of that excitement resides. Most of the time…if the source of your excitement is from your flesh or your directly physical world…those things typically are merely distractions from you coming to understand those things that are truly at your core being…those things that emanate from your spirit and your soul.
You will know the difference because those things that excite you from your very core will inherently include the consideration and even love for your family, friends and community at large.
So, living within every moment should enable you to begin to get a glimpse of what your true passions are. This takes a bit of detective work because there is some sifting that needs to take place. But, if you can learn how to “live in the moment” you will soon notice that certain things really light a fire under you while other things are simply engaging in the necessary tasks of daily life.
Those things that you find that lift your energy are those things to start looking at. If you find that there are only one or two things from your core being that truly excite you, then your job is quite easy…you start investigating and dreaming of ways to implement those things into your daily life.
You see (we’ll cover more of this in step 2) those things that truly energize your life will inevitably energize other people’s lives as well. When you have that type of influence upon other people you will then begin to see avenues open up to be able to monetize your energies.
When these things flow from you they will inevitably open up doors for you to also start making money doing them. You will find that you do not have to manipulate people…they will want to engage with you in your passions and your dreams. And, most often…they will want to pay you to do this.
One of the beautiful things about living in this day and age is that we have access through the internet to hundreds of millions of people. There are many, many people out there who also resonate with those things that bring you life, passion and energy and they will want to engage with you because of this.
So, as an example, one of my passions in this life is to fly fish. I absolutely love to do this. I have taught many people to engage in this most beautiful activity. I have written articles comparing fly fishing with aspects of health and freedom and I have taken people to some of the most beautiful places in California and enabled them to enjoy the beauty and timelessness of spending time in the mountains doing this.
People are actually drawn to me because of my love for this “sport.” I have countless ideas of how to monetize this activity more-so as part of my “retirement” but for now am content to simply share my love and passions with others when I get the chance.
I know plenty of people who have the same passion as I do and have decided to build an entire livelihood from doing it. The difference between those people and myself is I have made a decision to focus in on other passions to create wealth for the time being. I would have no problem creating a decent income from the passion and energy that emanates from me because of my love for fly-fishing, but I have found that there are other things that are a better fit for me at this point in my life.
You see… I have seven children and I am also absolutely passionate about them. We home-school them and therefore one of my priorities in life is to be with them as much as I possibly can. So, I have found something in my life that enables me to be home with them. It enables me to engage with them throughout the day…this brings an abundance of life to all of us.
Because this is a passion for me…people are also drawn to me because of my love and absolute commitment to my children. I could create a very comfortable living simply by focusing in on the incredible things I have learned merely on this part of my journey alone. People pay big money to learn “secrets” of how to raise children like ours. My wife and I are continually asked about how our children became to be such amazing people.
We know why this is the case and we freely share with anyone who wants to know. However, if we wanted to monetize this as well…since people are so drawn to us because of our children…they would absolutely buy a teaching series if we decided to do one or a book if we decided to write it. In fact…we have been asked to do so. We have never pursued this…but people are drawn to us because of the overflow of our great love and passion for our children. We have never set out to seek that out.
I am passionate about sharing the things that I have learned with other people. Thus I am involved with writing this mini-course on the 12 steps to financial freedom. People want to know what I have learned because I am passionate about these things.
I am also passionate about health and using natural methods and modalities to become and stay healthy. When we are healthy we have a much more clearer picture of how to pursue our dreams and our passions. Of course, the inverse is true as well. When we pursue those things that excite and impassion us…we tend to be healthier people.
However, my point is, people pay me for my knowledge and they also pay me for the products that I know, love and trust for my own family. I don’t have to sell these things…people simply want them because they are drawn to the positive energy that emanates from the passion I have for these things.
I love to teach people how to make money doing internet marketing. As with the fly fishing and my passion for my family and my passion with natural health care, I have a choice to make…do I monetize it or not? I choose to monetize this passion.
So, I charge to teach people how to learn how to share their passions through the internet. I will definitely share some of those secrets with you later on…but there is so much to know it would literally be impossible for me to share the many secrets and tricks and strategies involved without charging for my time and material.
You see…these are all things that put a smile on my face when I think about doing them. They give me energy when I engage in these activities. Every single area that I mentioned above is a possible way to make money.
I hope you are beginning to see the incredible power of this first step alone in your quest to becoming financially free.

When understanding your passions is not enough…
